Contact: Kelli Murphy Description of Presentation: This session will demonstrate good practices with using student responders in the classroom. We will begin with a brief summary of the actual system we use, ActiVotes, and then move to a variety of lessons that Erika (MATH teacher) has used in her classroom. Participants will get an opportunity to 'play' with the ActiVotes.
Both of these Activote presentations could be used as warm-ups or cool-downs at the end of lessons to prepare and review information for the 11th grade PSSA.
This is an Activote presentation that I used with my Algebra 2 courses at the beginning of the Spring semester to get an idea of where the students were in terms of what they remembered and what I would have to review.
This is a flipchart describing the use of Activotes in Peer Assessment. For example, I have my Accelerated Algebra 2 students develop graphing calculator quick reference sheets and then present on what they found and give demonstrations using TI-SmartView. The class could then measure the groups performance using the Activotes and the rubrics created for each topic. The classes' grade, as well as my grade, can then be factored into the final group grade. The reference sheet and the presentation have to satisfy the audience, so why not let the audience have a say.
